The Vance Defense

 Reporter: Lyn Tolbert (Gen 11)

Location: The Vance Dining Room (Greyson Branch)

Time: 10:15 AM

I’m sitting at the Vance kitchen table. Julian is pacing the floor while Daniella holds Theodore, looking like she’s ready to fight a Dragon, let alone a Gen 8 Great-Aunt. I’ve just finished showing them the side-by-side comparison: Alicia’s "Modified" records versus the original Celeste files.

Julian: (Stopping mid-pace, staring at the 'REJECTED' stamp on his own name) "She’s insane. She’s actually trying to claim my marriage to Daniella wasn't 'Imperial sanctioned'? We’re in the 21st century. This isn't a medieval court, it’s a family tree."

Lyn: "To Alicia, those are the same thing. She’s built a narrative that if she can delegitimize you two, Theodore doesn't exist in the eyes of the 'Empire.' That gives her the right to move Nadine or Leslie to the top of the pile."

Daniella: (Her voice quiet but dangerous) "She can try to delete a line on a piece of paper, but she can’t delete my son. Julian and I have every record—hospital, birth certificate, marriage license. Does she really think the 48 households will follow her into a delusion just because she has a fancy typewriter?"

Lyn: "She doesn't need them to believe her; she just needs the Archive Museum to accept the change. Once it’s in the 'Official' history, it’s hard to undo. That’s why Celeste risked everything to get me these files. You aren't just defending your son; you’re defending the integrity of the whole 12-generation marathon."

Julian: "What’s the move, Lyn? We aren't going to the Manor. I won't have her 'tutoring' my son or measuring his head for a crown."

Lyn: "We don't go to her. We bring the world to her. I’m going to publish the 'Vance Manifesto' on the blog. We include your real documents, the Founders' ghostly warning, and the proof of Alicia's sabotage. By the time the sun sets, every Sim from Gen 1 to Gen 12 is going to know that the 'Empress' has no clothes."

The Historian’s Tactical Sidebar:

  • The Vance Fire: Julian and Daniella are a power couple. They aren't scared of Alicia; they’re insulted by her. That’s a much more dangerous enemy.

  • The Theodore Effect: Theodore just grabbed my finger while I was talking. If Alicia thinks she can replace this kid with an 'Imperial' substitute, she’s in for a 421-Sim sized shock.

  • The Waiting Game: We’ve sent the "Manifesto" to the printers. Now, we wait for the first "Cease and Desist" from the Manor.
